Our Approach
At SproutWell, we believe pediatric care is most effective when families feel heard and supported in their goals for holistic health. Our mission is to elevate conventional Western medicine with safe, thoughtful and effective integrative therapies to expand treatment options and consider health in body, mind and spirit. We are committed to unhurried, personalized visits that recognize the individuality of each child and empower families with strategies that support healing, build resilience and nurture long-term health.
Julie Sweeney, MD FAAP
Founder & Integrative Pediatrician
Dr. Julie Sweeney is a double board-certified pediatrician and integrative medicine physician who combines evidence-based conventional medicine with a thoughtful, whole-child approach to care. She has cared for families across Fairfield and Westchester Counties for nearly 20 years.
After completing her pediatric residency at Maria Fareri Children’s Hospital at Westchester Medical Center, Dr. Sweeney returned home to Darien and spent more than a decade practicing general pediatrics. While she loved caring for families, she recognized that many children with chronic or complex health concerns needed more time, deeper investigation, and broader treatment options than the traditional medical model often allows.
In 2020, she opened her own consulting practice and later completed her fellowship training in integrative medicine, expanding her skillset to include nutritional therapies, botanicals, supplements, and mind-body approaches to healing. She has additional training in pediatric food allergy and medicinal plants through Cornell University, allowing her to integrate these therapies with a strong emphasis on safety and evidence-informed care. Dr. Sweeney is also certified in infant and pediatric therapeutic massage and auricular acupressure.

Dr. Sweeney opened SproutWell in 2023 as a place where families could feel truly heard and supported. Her passion for integrative medicine grew out of her own health journey, where nutrition, acupuncture, and botanicals played a meaningful role in her healing. She brings that lived experience into her care—pairing clinical training with compassion and a collaborative mindset.
At SproutWell, she focuses on anti-inflammatory nutrition, gut health, immune balance, and preventive wellness. Her goal is simple: to give families more time, more options, and a trusted partner in their child’s health—so kids can thrive from the inside out.
Outside the office, you’ll find Dr. Sweeney cheering on her three boys, traveling with her family, or practicing yoga.
